Hello there! My name is Andrew, and I’ve been working with Laura since she had the ingenious idea of creating Sense 5. For those who I have no met, I am the designated “wine-guy” at our events and I am blessed with the task of getting everyone rather merry.
Prior to our team-up, I have been quite happily working with wine for the last six years – particularly within the restaurant environment. I fell in love with wine very quickly after working with my fist extensive wine-list and undertaking several WSET Qualifications (not to mention a few vineyard tips to France!). I have been lucky to have worked in several restaurants – all with varying wine lists, which has given me the opportunity to try many different styles I would otherwise not have sampled. In September of 2019 I began my degree in Oenology and Viticulture in East Sussex, which is broadening my knowledge of the agricultural and production methods involved in winemaking, as well as the sensory-science elements from a tasting perspective.
Outside of my Sense 5 shenanigans I love time spent with friends and family (particularly my dog, Lily). I am in my absolute element when inside a restaurant (working and dining included). I run an awful lot to compensate for the vast amount of wine I “taste” (oops). In my own time I generally stick to cool climate wines and I LOVE sherry. I’m most looking forward to completing my course and getting some vineyard hours under my belt.
